Hoard of Hoards: Hidden | Lost | Stolen | Offered | Collected
This immersive exhibition at Lancaster Maritime Museum literally uncovers the numerous hoards that are part of the museum's collection.
Discovered all around the Lancaster District and Morecambe Bay area, these hoards include coins, jewellery, weapons and more. From prehistory through to the Tudor period, people have often stashed away their valuables for one reason or another. We take a look at each one and ask what was happening in Britain at the time and why the owners might have felt the need to hide their hoard.
