In and Around The Forest of Bowland:
In the Forest of Bowland National Landscape we want to enable access to the countryside for everyone; access for people with wheelchairs, pushchairs, limited mobility, or simply for those whose legs aren't as young as they used to be.
All the family can experience the unspoiled beauty of the area along trails with fantastic views, wildlife-rich hedgerows and through tranquil woodlands and parklands.
We have partnered with Access the Dales to explore making the inaccessible accessible and to break down the barriers that prevent people living with disabilities enjoying the great outdoors either independently or with their friends and family.
We have a number of hub locations in the National Landscape where all-terrain wheelchairs can be hired (for a small charge or donation), and can be used along designated trails – including Dunsop Bridge, Whitewell, Gisburn Forest Hub and Sabden.
Follow this link to see the different route options, which includes a self-guided trail at Dunsop Bridge. The access for all trails have been graded using the Disabled Ramblers 1 to 5 categories. These vary in distance and terrain, providing a range of experiences to suit those seeking a simple ride to those looking for something more challenging.

Dog Friendly Beach Walks
Where can I walk my dog on the beach?
Most local beaches are dog-friendly, though beware of fast flowing tides and the possibility of quicksand if you go too far out.
The only restriction is that dogs are excluded from Morecambe South and North beaches every year from May 1 until September 30 to comply with the Seaside Award. The awards recognise beaches in England that achieve the highest standards of beach management. Restricting dogs during the summer months also helps to maintain the water quality of the two beaches during their busiest period.
Please also remember that dogs need to be on leads while on the promenade and spaces such as the adjacent gardens and Sunny Slopes.
