Williamson Park
Williamson Park comprises 54 acres of beautiful parkland with breathtaking views across to Morecambe Bay.
The Ashton Memorial, in the centre of the park, was a gift to the City from Lord Ashton.
Step inside and explore the tropical Butterfly House, Mini-Beast and Bird Enclosures, or watch the meerkats play in the small mammal section. Come and play in the outdoor play areas, take a stroll along winding paths, then enjoy delicious food and drink in the Pavilion Cafe.
Opening Hours
- The Mini Zoo and Ashton Memorial are open all year round except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day, and subject to private events taking place in the memorial.
- April to September: 10am to 5pm (last entry 4.15pm)
- October to March: 10am to 4pm (last entry 3.15pm)

- Entry to the grounds is free.
Facilities
- Each weekend and every day during the school holidays at 11:30am you have the chance to meet our zoo keepers, and get even closer to some of our animals.
- You can learn about an animal’s lifecycle, diet, native habitat and will have the chance to ask as many questions as you like.
- There are carparks in Wyresdale Road and Quernmore Road (pay and display).
Accessibility
- The Butterfly House is fully accessible to wheelchairs.
- There is accessible parking in the Quernmore Road carpark.
- Please note that whilst the paths in the park are flat and accessible to wheelchairs and prams, they are steep in places.
