A festival celebrating the West End of Morecambe through art and music, is set to take place in Morecambe in March.
Sea Change will invite audiences from across the area to More Music and nearby West End locations on Saturday 28 March 12-4pm. There will be a free trail of new artworks, creative workshops and live music to enjoy, and all are welcome.
More Music’s Creative Producer Ben McCabe says, “We are really enjoying working alongside artists Molly Bland and Matty Green, LGB&T Out in the Bay, The Re Store, The Well Communities, Stanleys Community Centre Morecambe, and West End Impact to present this fun, welcoming festival that celebrates the West End of Morecambe and the people who live, work and play here. It’s been a nice problem to have to try and squeeze in all that this area offers from dance to theatre to music to street art and more and more! We grateful to Lancaster District CVS and West End Morecambe Big Local for supporting the festival.”
Audiences can experience a remarkable line up of funky street bands visiting Morecambe hosted by More Music’s Baybeat Streetband: Boom Dang from Barrow, Street Beats from Penrith, Cacophany Arkestra from Preston and Blast Furness from Ulverston.
Alongside the live music will be artworks including urban embroidery, poster art and sculpture plus pop up street art co-designed by artists Molly Bland and Matty Green and local community members, ensuring this is a festival where everyone can gather together and celebrate being together as a community.
Families are warmly encouraged to attend, and under 5s will be able to get involved with More Music’s popular Walking Down The Street Gamelan – an interactive musical sculpture which will be positioned in Alexandra Park. And there’ll be plenty for children of all ages to enjoy with offers from The West End Playhouse in Yorkshire Street, plus dance workshops from Your Inner Sense.
At 2:30pm all of the bands will play together to make a big splash of sound outside More Music’s building; the event promises to be a feel-good occasion to remember.
