Life After Death
The landscape around us is studded with human remains. For thousands of years humans have used burial, cremation and deposition in significant places to honour those who have died; each one leaves a mark. When ancient human remains are discovered historians and scientists can use an array of methods to try and discover the life behind their death.
This exhibition uses archaeology, historical sources, and new Raman spectrographic scanning techniques to capture what we know so far about human remains from four ancient sites in the local area.
Visit the Maritime Museum this winter to discover how science is rewriting ancient stories.
