In collaboration with AM Digital, the Special Collections and Archives at Lancaster University are holding an event on the 18th March to mark Women's History Month, 2026. The event will be looking at this years' theme "Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future".

It will be held in the Archives Research Centre from 13:30-16:00 on 18th March.

The session will include a display of materials from our Changing Faces Archive and the Socialist Pamphlets Collection which show how women of the past have shaped the sustainable future we have today.

There will be two talks:

  • Professor Caron Genty, Head of School of Global Affairs, will give a talk on "Feminist leadership and building democratic practices" (2pm-2.30pm)

  • Martha Routledge, our AM Digital Student Partner, will demonstrate relevant primary sources on the subject available for Lancaster students and staff on the AM Digital platform. (2.30-2.45pm).

The event is open for anyone to attend. Booking isn't essential, but we are asking people to register an interest if they are attending the event. The Archive Research Centre is on the lower ground floor of the Library and has a internal entrance and an accessible external entrance. There will also be an activity looking at the wider themes of the month.

The 2020 IWHM theme aims to expand "our understanding of sustainability beyond just environmental concerns", compassing "financial sustainability, community resilience, leadership and succession, and intergenerational equity". The theme affirms that "shaping a sustainable future means fostering system that support both people and the planet".
