Exhibition - INSUS UNEARTHED: a journey through Roman Lancaster
17th May 2025 - 30th November 2025
The City Museum's summer exhibition looks at how the Romans lived, worked and built the fort at the heart of our city. The very name of 'Lancaster' describes a fort (castrum) on the River Lune, and the city as we know it grew from these ancient Roman roots.
