Geology Walk from Half Moon Bay

Time 10 am till noon. Join us to explore the shores around Half Moon Bay at 10 am and learn about how our rocks and landscapes were formed Meeting on the beach at Half Moon Bay, Heysham we will head out a little into Morecambe Bay and around to a smaller adjoining beach.

This exciting short walk will transport you back in time to see how the last ice age formed the rocks before you. Geologist Trevor Lund will transport you back in time with some amazing facts about the landscapes composition and we will take a closer look at the sand beneath your feet.

  • Please come prepared with suitable clothing for the weather conditions with walking boots or good wellies. Sandals or crocs are not recommended.

  • We will be away from HMB for the duration of the event so please bring along refreshments if required.

  • Please note these areas are very slippery and supervision of children is required at all times especially whilst near the rocks.

  • We will start with a safety talk on HMB so please arrive promptly, so we have lots of time to explore.

  • We welcome assistance dogs.

  • Parking is at the Lancaster City Council car park on Smithy Lane has a charge and only takes card payments via RingGo.

Meet down on the beach at Half Moon Bay, Heysham at 10 am, event finishes at 12 pm.
