Discover Aughton Woods

14th May 2025

Icon Marker Large Lancaster

A chance to soak up the springtime colours and sounds of lovely Aughton Woods, close by the well-loved Crook o' Lune. Managed by the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester & North Merseyside, Aughton Woods Nature Reserve is a delightful spot to explore throughout the year, but carpets of bluebells and joyful birdsong make a spring visit particularly special.

Given the steep nature of the ground, access to this ancient semi-natural woodland is limited, so who better to guide us round than North Lancashire Reserves Officer, Philip Reddell? Phil knows the woodland well and will give us an insight into its habitats, heritage and current management. We'll also take a walk to the top of Lawson's Meadow, where we'll be rewarded with fantastic views of the Lune valley and surrounding countryside.

Approximately 2 ½ miles. Some steep sections and uneven ground. Likely to be muddy after wet weather.

10am - 2pm. £5 per person. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Booking needed. Please book at this link: https://events.apps.lancashire.gov.uk/w/webpage/event-details?eventid=1806653
