Chapel Island Walk: two-part event

Part Two: Crossing the sands near Chapel Island, Saturday 28th September 2024, meeting at Sandgate shore, Flookburgh, LA11 7LD

Join us for a very special two-part event this September exploring the past and present of historic Chapel Island in Morecambe Bay.

Gather with us online for a special evening exploring Chapel Island's unique location, history and wildlife. Learn about the history of cross bay walks and why this tiny island plays a pivotal role protecting the Bay's wildlife now. Then a few days later, step into the Bay with the Kings Guide, explore the surrounding sands of Chapel Island and walk in the footsteps of monks, fishermen and travellers. We'll also have the opportunity to visit historic Collins Weir which has been unearthed from the sands for the first time in over 70 years.

Part Two: Crossing the sands near Chapel Island, Saturday 28th September 2024 . Please note, this walk will cross the sands near to Chapel
Island but not venture onto it, and we’ll visit historic Collins Weir. Please see information on our website for more information about the walking location and route, and what to expect.
Event prices, age restrictions etc: Places on this unique walk are limited to 100 to minimise impact on the environment and wildlife of Morecambe Bay.
