A Good Friday Meditation on Christ's Passion
The Priory Choir are joined by many singing friends to being this beautiful solemn event on Good Friday. They are busy rehearsing weekly to bring pieces such as Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri and the Easter section of Handel's Messiah.
Each of these is addressed to a part of Jesus' crucified body: feet, hands, side and face.
The programme is framed by Thomas Tomkins’ A Sad Pavan for these Distracted Times, and interspersed with short spoken meditations. The accompaniment will be from a specially formed string ensemble including harp and harpsichord.
If you would like to be part of the audience for this event, you are invited to reserve your place in advance. There will be limited seating for this meditation so advance booking is recommended.
