Morecambe Bay Partnership runs an active travel hub at Grange-over-Sands Station as part of the Ways Around the Bay programme.

There is access to Morecambe Bay Partnership’s services and community projects as well as mobility scooter and E-bike hire (currently only pre-booked hires).

A suite of itineraries will be developed to provide half and full day rides from will be available, as well as an activity programme of guided rides and walks with accessibility for all in mind, to encourage walking and cycling for health, and opportunities to chat and make friends.

 

When is the active travel hub open?

We can now take bookings online and by telephone for mobility vehicle hire.

Call the hub on 015395 55439. The hub won't always be open to the public so please leave a message and we will respond as soon as we can.

For pre-booked customers, we can meet you at the hub on Platform 2 of Grange-over-Sands Station.

We pick up all phone and email enquiries and are happy to make appointments to meet you at the hub to talk about our services, or get you out and about on a mobility scooter or powered wheelchair.

 

What is the hub offering?

Free mobility scooter hire with direct access on to the car-free prom and around the town.

Free off-road Tramper mobility scooters to get you up onto Hampsfell away from it all in nature with spectacular views of Morecambe Bay.

Coming soon - paid for E-bike hire with reduced rates for locals, organised group rides and confidence building cycling sessions.

Pop down and chat to staff and find out information about Morecambe Bay Partnership’s services and community projects and how to get involved.

Advice and suggestions for local walking and cycling routes and low-carbon itineraries for exploring the wider Bay area.

We’ll also develop a targeted activity programme of guided rides and walks aimed at those who face barriers to cycling & walking, for health improvement, and social interaction.

 

 

This project is part of Ways Around The Bay, a programme which aims to establish Morecambe Bay as a centre for walking, cycling and exploring the Bay in low carbon ways. The initiative is creating more inclusive access, so everyone can enjoy the Bay’s inspiring landscapes, nature, history and culture. The programme is funded by the Department for Levelling Up (Coastal Communities Fund) via Westmorland and Furness Council.
