Rachel Hearne - Goldsmith & Jeweller
Starting her business from her basement in 2005, Rachel Hearne is a highly trained goldsmith jeweller from Lancaster with over 25 years of experience at the bench. Her business is now based at the historic Glassworks building in Lancaster and she specialises in heirloom remodelling and bespoke commissions, as well as jewellery that's on sale in many galleries across the UK.
With 20 years of jewellery teaching experience, Rachel opened Lancaster’s first has a fully equipped jewellery school in 2021 offering training to people of all ages and abilities. Her courses range from the basics to more specialist techniques such as mount making, stone setting, casting, and wax modelling. Rachel Hearne Jewellery School also hosts internationally recognised lecturers and tutors in the field to bring a wide range of learning opportunities to the Northwest.
Her work is influenced by the play of line and form found in nature and architecture and she enjoys exploring the drama of mixed materials, textures, and surface treatments in her work. She uses these influences to create pieces that are contemporary and will stand the test of time.
