Eden Project Morecambe - due to open 2028
Eden Project Morecambe: A 21st Century Seaside Vision - due to open in 2028
For decades, Morecambe has stood as one of Britain’s most cherished coastal destinations, known for its breath-taking natural beauty. Now, Eden Project Morecambe is set to transform the town into a vibrant, future-facing resort that celebrates the natural world. Building on the Eden Project’s legacy of education, ecology, and community, this ambitious new development aims to inspire awe and foster a deeper connection to nature.
Backed by the UK Government, Eden Project Morecambe is being brought to life by the creators of the original Eden Project in Cornwall, in collaboration with regional partners. In 2025, a £50 million investment from the UK Government propelled the project into its next stage, including the appointment of a top-tier design team led by global engineering consultancy WSP and the acclaimed architecture firm Grimshaw—known for designing the original Eden Project.

An Eden by the Bay
Drawing inspiration from the intricate forms and efficiency of seashells, the architecture of Eden Project Morecambe is designed to be iconic and instantly recognisable. It will stand as a symbol of sustainability, carefully integrated into the local landscape and heritage.
Newly revealed concept images highlight the stunning, shell-like design surrounded by a network of gardens, all overlooking the striking natural setting of Morecambe Bay.
Inside, the building will host extraordinary living landscapes and immersive environments filled with world-class art, performances, storytelling, interactive exhibits, and spaces for play. Anchored by the dramatic tidal rhythms of Morecambe Bay—one of the largest tidal ranges in the world—the project is deeply attuned to the cycles of nature, echoing its themes throughout the visitor experience.
Eden Project Morecambe set to open to visitors by winter 2028.
