A Day Exploring Lancaster City's History and Heritage
Lancaster is a city rich in history and heritage, with buildings and landmarks that have stood for thousands of years. From the Castle to the Priory Church, there is a wonderful range of places to discover spanning a variety of interests, making it the perfect place for a group trip.
Begin the day by stepping back in time at Lancaster Castle. With over 1,000 years of history hidden inside, your group will discover the depths of the city’s past and have a fantastic start to their day out. The Lancashire Police Museum is also open on Thursdays and Fridays for an in-depth look into Lancashire's Constabulary history.

The next stop is the Judges Lodgings, an elegant Grade 1 building dating back nearly 400 years. Your group can explore stunning period rooms, beautiful Georgian furniture and take a trip down memory lane with the Museum of Childhood.

The final stop on the history and heritage tour is Lancaster Priory Church. Standing overlooking the city, the Priory was first founded in 1094 and has 13 centuries of history. As one of the most frequently visited parish churches in the North West, it is of huge historical and archeological importance and well-respected throughout Lancashire and beyond.
