Grab your boots and tackle one of our Morecambe Bay hill walks. These hills are all less than 1000 ft but are still rewarding for adults as well as a memorable adventure for younger children.The bay is surrounded by some beautiful limestone headlands and as a result provide some of the best views to look out from.

Arnside Knott makes a lovely leisurely walk with beautiful views across the bay and is a haven for birds and wildlife. Start and end your walk on the beach and promenade of Arnside.

At 163m, this is the highest point in the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The summit is topped with the remains of an Iron Age fort and affords exhilarating views.

The Hoad, Ulverston
This local monument, which resembles a lighthouse, is open during the summer months and can be ascended via a spiral stone staircase. The top provides a 360-degree panorama of the Furness Peninsula and Morecambe Bay.

Whitbarrow (also known as Whitbarrow Scar) lies about 9 kilometres south-west of Kendal, close to the village of Witherslack. From the A590 Road you can clearly see this prominent hill with its steep limestone cliffs, laid down some 350 million years ago. The summit of Whitbarrow Scar is known as Lord’s Seat, and Wainwright features Whitbarrow in 'The Outlying Fells of Lakeland' describing it as "the most beautiful [walk] in this book; beautiful it is every step of the way. ... All is fair to the eye on Whitbarrow".

This short hike from either Cartmel or Grange is well worth it for the panoramic views across the Bay.
At the top is Hampsfield Hospice, a shelter for travellers, commissioned by the pastor of Cartmel in 1846.

Jubilee Tower, Lancaster
Short on time or want to experience the views without the hike?
Just 10 mins from Lancaster, you can drive up to this commemorative tower and park in the car park opposite to get stunning views of the entire bay. Afterwards, carry on driving eastwards towards the beautiful Trough of Bowland or head back down into Lancaster again.
If you would like to park and walk from the tower try this 7.7 mile walk to Grit Fell and back - best enjoyed on dry days as it can be a little boggy underfoot!
