Explore the Bay with Parkrun

Parkruns are free, timed 5 Kilometre events held across the UK every Saturday morning. The races are run with a fun and relaxed atmosphere and whether you’re experienced or a beginner, you’ll be welcome!

Morecambe

This is a recent edition to the Parkrun family and is already a firm favourite among many runners! Like Fleetwood, this is a flat out and back course along Morecambe's famous promenade. Try and grab yourself a PB! The run takes you past the Art Deco masterpiece Midland Hotel and the Eric Morecambe Statue to 'bring you sunshine'.

Lancaster

If you like hills then this is the ideal place for your run! (The organisers describe this course as slightly undulating!) Lancaster's parkrun is held at the wonderful Williamson Park and run on a mixture of tarmac paths, trail paths and woodland steps. The run finishes outside the beautiful Ashton Memorial giving views across the bay.

 

Fell Foot 

Fell Foot Parkrun takes place in the National Trust owned park of the same name. Lying in the Lake District National Park, this run contains a mixture of grass, tarmac and gravel paths. Highlights include the views across Lake Windermere to the central lakes fells. Head down to the Boathouse Café afterwards to hire out a rowing boat or kayak for some relaxing time on the water.

 

Ulverston

This parkrun is another recent edition to the area. The course is held at Ford Park, Ulverston and run on a mixture of tarmac paths, trail paths and grass. Afterwards head to Ford Park's Coach House Café & Bistro which serves freshly prepared food, much of which is grown in their kitchen garden. If you have the time (and energy) afterwards, climb up The Hoad to see the Sir John Barrow Monument.

 

Barrow-in-Furness

The Course is held in Barrow Park, and run on tarmac paths. The run starts at the Bandstand Semi Circle open area before gently climbing up to the main course, where it joins the loop around the Cenotaph Hill. If you are travelling from the south, jump on the train to get to Barrow. You will enjoy an unforgettable journey that takes in many different views across the bay.

 

Fleetwood



Fleetwood is a grand Victorian seaside resort boasting a stunning promenade. Starting behind the Art Deco Marine Hall, you will head south along the promenade past the striking Rossall Point Observatory before returning to the finish. If travelling from Lancaster, travel to Knott End, park the car then jump on the Ferry to get there. (check times and availability before travelling).
