Then visit Lancaster Priory, the Mother Church of the City of Lancaster and a place of worship since Saxon times. Its historic churchyard forms part of the Scheduled Ancient Monument site of the Roman settlement on Castle Hill.

Then call in to the Judges' Lodgings (open seasonally) to take a look into the judicial and social history of Lancaster, plus take a nostalgic trip down memory lane at its Museum of Childhood.
Grab a bite to eat at Atkinson’s Café inside the castle or The Printroom in the lovely Storey building, Thomas Storey's philanthropic 19th century vision for the promotion of art, science and literature.
Alternatively, head up to the Pavilion Café at Williamson Park for a tasty lunch with magnificent views of the Fylde Coast, Morecambe Bay and the Lake District fells and mountains.
Williamson Park is home to the iconic Ashton Memorial, commissioned by Lancaster industrialist Lord Ashton as a tribute to his late wife Jessy. Explore its 54 acres of beautiful parkland with enchanting woodland walks, then visit the beautiful Butterfly House, situated in an Edwardian Palm House and meet some of the friendly mini-beasts in the park’s Mini Zoo.
In the afternoon, visit the Maritime Museum on the historic quayside, offering a glimpse into the area’s maritime heritage and highlighting the district’s significant role in the global import industry and the impact of the sea and rivers on the lives of the people who lived here.
In the evening, visit Lancaster Grand Theatre, the third oldest theatre in Britain. Enjoy the best of modern entertainment in this beautiful, traditional venue.
